Restylane is the original hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA approved and also works well to smooth and soften smile lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, lines about the corners of the mouth, and achieve lip augmentation. Restylane-L adds lidocaine into the syringe to lessen discomfort to the patient. Perlane, and Perlane-L are longer acting fillers that the body takes a bit more time to degrade (because it is a larger molecule of hyaluronic acid) so it may last on average up to 6 months. Restylane typically lasts about 4 months.
Restylane and Perlane are both excellent hyaluronic acid fillers to add predictable, precise volume in the smile lines, oral commissures, and marionette lines. They are especially excellent at volumizing and adding and/or restoring lip volume.
One final application of Restylane and Perlane is non-surgical rhinoplasty which can also be performed by adding the filler to certain aspects of the nose to improve the appearance of the nose, or “disguise” the dorsal hump by adding subtle amounts of filler above and below it.
